Event Name: Walk to End Child Abuse

When: September 18th, 2010
8:30 AM to 1:00 PM

Where: Minneapolis, MN

General Information: The Walk to End Child Abuse has become a welcome and inspiring tradition in our community. Each summer concerned citizens, responsible agencies and businesses, families, and of course our children get together in late summer for a day of fun and reflection. The Walk is at once both a festive community gathering and critical fund raiser that allows Prevent Child Abuse Minnesota to provide education and advocacy while pursing the mission to end child abuse and neglect in Minnesota.

This September 18th, Prevent Child Abuse Minnesota will hold its 10th Annual Walk to End Child Abuse. The festivities begin at 9:00 a.m. In addition to the walk, children and families will also enjoy face painting, inflatables, a baseball clinic, kid’s dash, music, and more.

The event benefits Prevent Child Abuse Minnesota (PCAMN). We are the only statewide nonprofit organization with the single mission to prevent all types of abuse and neglect of Minnesota’s children. We work every day to promote positive parenting, healthy families, and supportive communities where children are valued and respected.

Our child abuse and neglect prevention programs work! Our programs include:
• Circle of Parents® Support Group – our group model has received national recognition and serves more than 2000 individuals across Minnesota each year including training many parents in leadership.
• 1-800-CHILDREN support and referral line – assisting approximately 500 callers annually.
• Child Abuse Prevention Month – held each April - including Minnesota Child Abuse Prevention Conference, a rally at the state capitol, distribution of Child Abuse Prevention resource packets and materials, and a wide array of activities across the state under the national symbol of the blue ribbon.
• Abuse prevention training – provided to communities, organizations, businesses and individuals across the state; and distribution of information on positive parenting and community support.
